The Bible is well known for its ability to predict the future. History has shown that prophecies written well in advance have happened just as the Bible said they would.
And although the Bible was written long ago, it also prophecied events that have happened quite recently - like the formation of the State of Israel.
But there are also prophecies in the Bible that have yet to be fulfilled. Some of these prophecies concern nations and places that are regularly in the news. So if we want to understand where current events may be leading, it is helpful to know if what we hear about in the news is linked to Bible prophecies.
'Nations & Places' selects some news items and shows how the Bible might help understand what is happening and how they might fit into God's future plan for the world.
One Bible verse, referring to the things that would happen in the world just before the return of Christ, reminds us to get encouragement from seeing Bible prophecies being fulfilled:
"And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh."
(Lu 21:28)
With so much happening in the world, much of it causing everybody to worry about the future, it may be reassuring to see that world events are not 'out of control', but moving towards the 'redemption' of the world and the peace and perfection that will bring.
'Nations & Places' shows you some of the things to watch.
