guide dog being trainedTraining can often be enjoyable, but to get the best out of the exercise there needs to be commitment and discipline. Guide dogs being trained seem to enjoy being taught, but it's not easy and it takes lots of time and patience!

 

Which is true as well for Bible study. With something as long and complicated as the Bible, learning to find your way around does not happen quickly. And to study the Bible successfully will demand the right attitude and a willingness to be guided.

 

Which is also why training a guide dog for the blind takes time. And not all dogs turn out to suitable for the job they are being trained to do.

 

But training guide dogs and studying the Bible are different! God wrote the Bible and has made sure it available to read and study. As long as we really want to understand it, he will help us do just that.

 

Like any new skill, studying the Bible should be done in stages. Like training a dog, start with the basics when you study the Bible. Then when you are ready, move on to harder things.
